The first rubber balloon was produced in 1824 by Professor Michael Faraday.  It was constructed by cutting two rubber shapes the same size and then welding them together.  It worked a treat and printed balloons are part of major events all around the world today.  Weddings, elections, product launches, trade shows, exhibitions, celebrations and many other events all incorporate promotional balloons because they are a colourful and effective way to advertise.  The advantage with printed balloons is that you can combine any colour combination, any text combination and any extra accessories such as helium, ribbons cups etc.  So what are the most popular balloons for promotional use around the UK.  The top two are as follows:

Latex Balloons:  Latex is a substance that comes from a rubber tree.  It is collected by cutting the tree and catching the liquid in a cup.  This then is used for promotional balloons.  It is important to note that this does not harm the tree and is known as ‘harvesting!’  Printed balloons can come in sizes of 12”-14” and can be printed in any colour with a pantone reference if you prefer.
